well I know a few different companies said they were going to make an intake snorkel but that was months ago and I was wondering if any of the vendors are still working on one or are we stuck with just the ford racing option? if one is still currently in the works it would be great if whatever vendor was working on this would give us a little progress report. and lastly if one of the vendors has already made one that I didn't know im sorry for posting this.

I don't believe any vendor has made one yet.
I decided to make my own. I have all the parts sitting on the shelf, just waiting for the weather to warm up.

The idea has been brought up to Boomba, though I am sure they are busy working on other things first. The only company I know that still claims to have plans to make a snorkel was Levels Performance, though I am unsure about its progress.

I just hopped on one of the group buys.

Nik at Levels gave me a few details about the one he is planning. It will be aluminum instead of plastic. However, as far as I know, he does not have anything ready yet.

Preview of my work in progress:
It's since been cleaned up and painted red.

I considered this. But I'm thinking it's going to be wedged in there pretty tight. We'll see.. doing a V2 won't be too big a deal. It was cheap and easy to cut to shape.

I saw a thread where a guy just trimmed the top to pull in air from the hood gap. If it rains alot where your at i wouldnt do that but for me its an option.

Have you been to Seattle lol. Serious downpour on the highway might pull some water into the filter displacing the oil reducing filtration. Doesnt need to get in to cause issues. We get like a couple inches a year so Im gonna do it. Just need to find the right weather stripping. Like my roush intake box cover.

Well because water is heavier then the air we are bringing in. It will fall before the intake. Might get a few drops here or there but I don't see anything drastic that would cause engine failure. I know a lot of people ruining cold air intakes at the front of their car just behind the bumper. They just need to worry about deep puddles

You pulled your........... whatever its called that directs air at the radiator then. Was trying to remember if its in the way or not. Installed an IC a while back

Just did the mod while I was changing out my plugs for the Denso's. All it took was the really sharp knife on my leatherman. The hole is cleeeeeean too.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but does anyone know the dimensions of the inlet and outlet of the snorkel?

Reason I'm asking is because I was thinking that maybe Home Depot or Lowes gutter parts might work (with a little bit of fabrication work)

Here's a good example ----> InvisaFlow DownSpout Connector-4300 at The Home Depot
Blue, the inlet and outlet are the same dimensions. I'm a little concerned that folks might be making this opening far larger than the FRPP snorkel. I know that a significant engineering effort was put into this part, as race teams were having difficulty without it. It's not that size because they guessed. Mine is now installed. If it were not, I'd have been happy to provide you the dimensions. A guy is (right now) selling his unused FRPP kit. I bet he'd get you the dimensions if you PM'ed him. JP

Ya... I don't think I will be needing a snorkel anymore. The hole mod does the trick. I may take some weatherstrip and wrap it around the sides and back to make a makeshift channel to the hole. It should insure colder air too by restricting the pull from the sides.
